Nobody sounds like Hayden Chisholm. There is an uncanny softness, and at the same time an underlying intensity, in the playing of this New Zealand-born, Germany residing saxophonist. Mr. Chisholm's alto saxophone sings out in quiet, flexuous tones that twist and turn into the most unexpected lines, skillfully juggling microtonal subtleties, creating a rustling tension with his sublime and tender tone.
