After three barns were torched in an Iowa Amish community, FBI agent Sally Russwell (Lolita Davidovich) was dispatched to investigate, and found her inquiry stalemated by the distrust of the community. Gaining the tentative trust of local widow Annie Beiler (Patty Duke), she finds herself having to adapt to local customs as she sifts through the suspects.
