Dana Zemtsov is one of the most promising international viola soloists of her generation. On this new release, she invites listeners to re-explore Romanticism from different perspectives. Be it the lyrical nineteenth-century classical romanticism of Vieuxtemps's Viola Sonata, the fantastical adventure of Bloch's Suite '1919' or the drama of Waxman's Carmen Fantasy, the term 'Romantic' has many different definitions. However, most personal is Zemtsov's inclusion of Melodie i'm Alten Stil, composed by her grandfather Evgeni Zemtsov. Written for her grandmother, who was also a violist, it was intended as a declaration of love.
