Gordon Lightfoot was a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who achieved international success in folk and country music. He is credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 60s and 70s and has been referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter. Lightfoot's songs have been recorded by some of the world's most renowned musical artists and several of his albums achieved gold and multi-platinum status internationally. He topped the US Hot 100 chart with the hits "If You Could Read My Mind" (1970), "Sundown" (1974) and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" (1976) all featured in this mid-price collection. Robbie Robertson of the Band described Lightfoot as "a national treasure" and Bob Dylan, also a Lightfoot fan, called him one of his favourite songwriters. Lightfoot passed away earlier this year aged 84.
