Fairport Convention - Red & Gold

Originally released in 1988, Red & Gold finds British folk-rock pioneers Fairport Convention balancing traditional storytelling with contemporary songcraft. Anchored by Ralph McTell's epic title track, which recounts the 1644 Battle of Cropredy Bridge, the album blends rich musicianship, spirited folk melodies, and thoughtful original compositions. Featuring standout performances from Simon Nicol, Ric Sanders, Dave Pegg, Dave Mattacks, and Maartin Allcock, Red & Gold is a late-period Fairport gem that showcases the band's enduring ability to bring history, humor, and heart to life through song.
