Eric Dolphy - Out There / Looking Ahead

Eric Dolphy's complete original album Out There (New Jazz NJLP8252), his second LP as a leader after Outward Bound. The instrumentation featured here is unusual, with Dolphy playing in a quartet format with Ron Carter on cello, George Duvivier on bass, and Roy Haynes on drums. As a bonus, alto saxophonist and flutist Ken McIntyre's complete LP Looking Ahead (New Jazz NJLP8247), which was recorded in a quintet format less than two months before Out There (Dolphy is the only other horn player featured on the date).
