Ennio Morricone - Autostop Rosso Sangue (aka Hitch-Hike) (Original Soundtrack)

CAM Sugar is delighted to present a new chapter in it's Morricone Segreto series, dedicated to the hidden and most daring works of Maestro Ennio Morricone. With Autostop Rosso Sangue (Hitch-Hike, 1977), Morricone composed one of his most fascinating and unconventional scores, written for the psychological road thriller directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile. The film follows a couple's descent into fear and violence after picking up a dangerous hitchhiker, and Morricone's music mirrors this psychological tension: contrasting melodic, almost carefree themes that evoke freedom and lightness, against obsessive repetitions and unsettling harmonies that delve into the film's more disturbing moods through dissonances, percussive tension and silence. Meanwhile, lyrical moments add a fragile, melancholy beauty to the score's emotional contrasts. This 2026 digipak CD edition features a meticulous restoration from the original master tapes and a new high-definition remaster that brings out the full dynamic range and timbral complexity of the recording, highlighting Morricone's unparalleled ability to translate inner turmoil into sound. With it's transparent cyan vinyl edition, Autostop Rosso Sangue stands as both a tribute to Morricone's boundless creativity and an invitation to rediscover one of the most haunting cult films of 1970s Italian cinema.
