The pairing of Young Shanty and Dr. Love on Smokers Music Vol. 1 combines a world of influence spanning across the globe. From Oakland to Jamaica and all points in between, the listener is witness to a unique journey that began in 2007. Since then, a massive amount of music was created, compiled and methodically selected by Chalice Row Records to create this unique "Soundtrack for Smokers". Potential tragedy struck when Dr. Love's studio burned to the ground from an electrical fire early in 2017 taking with it hard drives, computers and instruments. A shocking event indeed, the music collection had been backed up and the work seamlessly continued from the road while on tour until the finished product happily arrived in June of 2017 and was celebrated with successful record release parties in Oakland and Sacramento, California.
