Philadelphia native folk singer/songwriter Don Paulin was one of the more popular folk acts of the early 1960's and performed regularly in Southern California during the folk boom. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and an ear for the folk music of distant lands, Paulin became a popular attraction on the folk circuit. Paulin settled in Germany in the mid-60s and made a living by recording numerous "folklore" LPs, a style that occupied everything from nursery rhymes via skiffle to fake protest. To anyone growing up in folk-starved 1960s West Germany, Don Paulin was a household name. He became known for his German version of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" and had a minor hit with his original song "Groupy Girl." Presented here is Don Paulin's classic 1963 release, "Upside Don," recorded live at the legendary 60's folk club the Icehouse, in Pasadena, California. Long out of print and a highly sought after collector's item on vinyl, "Upside Don" makes it's debut in the digital domain. All selections newly remastered.
