The master saxophonist, a sure-fire pleaser, seasoned from over 50 years of topflight performing and recording, is heard here with his band of 10 years, the Grammy-nominated New Stories trio (Marc Seales, Doug Miller and John Bishop) performing a program of jazz and classic pop standards. Selected as one of the top 5 CDs of 2001 by Ira Gitler in Jazz Times, the track "Alone Together" was also selected by the Japanese jazz scholar Yasukuni Terashima for a cut on his best of 2001 CD compilation, "Jazz Bar 2002" produced by Tokyo's DIW Records.
