There is no label which has ever documented the Medieval "Minnesang," the German courtly love song, as extensively as Christophorus. A compilation in 12 albums in now presented, which includes authors such as Walther von der Vogelweide, Neidhart von Reuental and the so-called Monk of Salzburg. Pieces of troubadours and trouvéres from the French and Spanish territories are added, as are some spiritual incursions of these great poets, to make this an incredibly rich journey through the sounds of Medieval Europe. The ensembles featured on this release include early music specialists like I Ciarlatani, Ensemble fur Fruhe Musik Augsburg, Estampe, Per-Sonat, and Ensemble Leones, among others.
