David Ponsford - French Organ Music from the Golden Age, Vol. 10 - Louis Couperin

For this 400th anniversary of the birth of Louis Couperin, it has been a great privilege to record this selection of his music on an organ built in the style of a mid-seventeenth French instrument, and tuned in meantone temperament. No mid-seventeenth century French organs in original condition and tuning are now extant, but this marvellous instrument built by Dominique Thomas in 2008 is the closest to the authentic sounds which Louis Couperin would have recognised.
