David Lynch: Short Films

First, Lynch examines the results of illness in the animated shorts Six Men Getting Sick (1966) and The Alphabet (1968). Then, a disturbed boy seeking love plants a seed that turns into The Grandmother (1970), with Richard White, Dorothy McGinnis and Virginia Maitland, while The Amputee (1974) finds Catherine Coulson attempting to write a letter as her nurse (portrayed by Lynch) tends to her wounds; and the made-for-French-TV comedy The Cowboy and the Frenchman (1988) stars Harry Dean Stanton as a frustrated rancher who witnesses an odd occurrence.
