One of the most popular New York R&B groups of the late 1950's, The Crests were juke-box favorites of the national teen scene. The band was founded by J. T. Carter and included Talmoudge Gough, Harold Torres, Patricia Van Dross (older sister of R&B great Luther Vandross) and lead vocalist Johnny Maestro.
