After a hostage negotiation went tragically sideways, ex-cop Koichi Takakura (Hidetoshi Nishijima) took a professor's job and relocated with his wife Yasuko (Yuko Takeuchi). Beyond finding their new neighbors unusually distant, Koichi's old crony Nogami (Masahiro Higashide) sought his input on a bizarre cold case... and the Takakuras would discover it's horrific connection to the folks next door.
