Known widely as "The Tall Texan" - he stands 6'5" - Claude Gray has enjoyed a long, hit-festooned recording career, his rich baritone often drawing comparison with the mighty Jim Reeves. This compilation anthologises his early singles, released between 1958-62, and includes all his early Country hits, 'I'm Not Supposed', 'Best Part Of Me', 'Family Bible' (Willie Nelson's first significant hit song), 'Leave Alone', 'I'll Just Have A Cup Of Coffee (Then I'll Go)' (his only crossover Pop hit, which Bob Marley would purloin, a year or so hence), 'My Ears Should Burn (When Fools Are Talked About)', 'Let's End It Before It Begins', 'You Take The Table (And I'll Take The Chairs)', 'Daddy Stopped In' and 'Knock Again, True Love'. Surprisingly, perhaps, several of his very early releases are almost impossible to find elsewhere on CD, making this a unique collection.
