From 1952-'56, Charles Boyer joined fellow Hollywood luminaries Ida Lupino, David Niven and Dick Powell in Four Star Playhouse (also known as Star Performance), an anthology series in which each actor took the lead role on a weekly basis. The series, which ran on CBS, earned 14 Emmy nominations during it's run, including one for Boyer in 1956 for Best Continuing Performance by an Actor in a Dramatic Series: DOCTOR AND THE COUNTESS: A beautiful countess seduces a famous plastic surgeon in an effort to convince him to perform a hideous atrocity. LAST VOYAGE: The crew of a merchant vessel has two hours to discover who among them is a saboteur, before they are all blown to bits in the middle of the ocean. SECOND DAWN: A blind man must undergo a risky surgery in a desperate effort to regain his sight and save his marriage. THE OFFICER AND THE LADY: A Parisian thief impersonates a General to satisfy the final request of a dying boy.
