Luise Adolpha Le Beau was a celebrated pianist who scored successes with compositions of her own, prevailing against all the resentment working against women composers during the middle of the nineteenth century. The three young musicians Bartek Niziol, Denis Severin, and Tatiana Korsunskaya have dedicated themselves to the chamber music of this composer who is practically forgotten today in what is a thrilling debut making US eager to hear more. Piano lessons from Clara Schumann, instruction in composition from Josef Rheinberger, pen-pals with Hans von Bülow. Le Beau knew everybody who was anybody. She met Franz Liszt in Weimar and made the acquaintance of Johannes Brahms and Eduard Hanslick without taking sides in the conflict between the New Germans and the conservative ones. The excellent interpretation by Bartek Niziol, Denis Severin, and Tatiana Korsunskaya, who offer a first look at an interesting artistic personality of these three early compositions is recorded in MDG's time tested 2+2+2 sound panorama the instruments captured in the best SACD quality shine in all their glory.
