San Dimas, California, teens Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are dangerously close to flunking their high school history class. Luckily, they get some unexpected help from Rufus (George Carlin), a man from the future who gives the guys a time-travelling phone booth that allows them to meet such historical luminaries as Abraham Lincoln, Billy the Kid, Joan of Arc, Napoleon, and more.
