Bill Evans - Live In London 1965

Bill Evans, live from London, March 1965. When pianist Bill Evans brought the second of his acclaimed trios over to London in early March 1965, he would be breaking new ground in familiar territory. Sandwiched between the revered trio figures of Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian, Jack DeJohnette, Gary Peacock and Eddie Gomez was the '63-'65 line-up with Chuck Israels and Larry Bunker, both players forging new paths in the triangular concept otherwise captured in Trio '65. Recalling Explorations (1961) and Waltz For Debby (1962), the intimate feel of the legendary Soho club comes through on this recording, with enthusiastic applause at the end of each song and the silence of delighted anticipation in between. Top Note presents the Bill Evans Trio, performing live at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho, London early March and tracks selected for broadcast through WBGO-FM and PBS-TV later that month. Featuring a fully restored and professionally remastered original broadcast with background notes and timeline photos
