On April 12, 1960, jazz vocalist Beverly Kenney succeeded in her third suicide attempt with a combination of alcoho and Seconal. She was only 28 years old but had already made a name for herself in the musical scene, sharing the bill with such stars as Miles Davis, Art Blakey and Tito Puente, and being praised by Down Beat critic Nat Hentoff. The 1956 album presented here finds her swinging in the company of pianist Jimmy Jones (who also worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Chris Connor, and Helen Merrill), and members of the Count Basie orchestra. AllMusic reviewer Scott Yanow gave the album four out of five stars, stating that, "Kenney was one of the most interesting jazz singers of the mid-'50s. The light but swinging backing is perfect for Kenney. She deserves to be remembered." 180- gram VIRGIN VINYL LIMITED EDITION of 500 COPIES. The Complete Album + 5 Bonus Track.
