Promises. We've all made them. When we were toddlers on backyard adventures, we made pinky promises: "I promise I won't hit you with this wet, gooey mud pie in my hand"... only to be guilty moments later when everything turned chocolate brown. Though we try to keep our promises, we have failed many of them. There is One, however, who has never broken a single promise. We hope these melodies remind you of God's constant character, His promise to you. -The Berci Sisters In their second collection of original bilingual pieces, the duo's lyrical expressions demonstrate a continued transformation of personal experience and learned lessons. The opening track invites the listener to discover the album theme with a steady pulse and confident declarations. Their delicately interwoven harmonies in tracks such as "Hungry & Thirsty," and the title track deliver the singers' message: God's promises can be personally experienced, rather than just distantly read. "Acelasi Dumnezeu", translated, "the same God", begins by painting gospel scenes of the Lord's healings of those with simple, yet unshakable faith. It escalates to an exalting cry declaring the Healer's unchanged power still at work today. The sisters reveal a moment of surrender as they express acceptance of a plan beyond their own. The theme of constancy in days of present just as in days of old is solidified through the transition to a heart-warming Romanian hymn between modern worship choruses. "Domnul M-a Ales", or "The Lord has chosen me" was inspired by their young friend who passed away from cancer the previous year. As an undeterred worshiper, she knew the Lord had chosen her for His purposes, and she trusted Him. In "Samariteanul", "The Samaritan", the sisters are united with the two people who established their profound musical and spiritual roots: their loving parents. The family joins together in a sweet retelling of the Savior's unparalleled mercy and love for the undeserving. This piece was written by their father on a train ride back to his collegiate studies in Romania in the 80s, and has since become one of the most widely known communal anthems of the Romanian evangelical church. The singer-songwriters once again show a diverse influence and application of styles through country-pop-inspired and uplifting "Harul Tau" ("Your grace"), reggae-nuanced "Cast My Net" and urban-folk "The Fig Tree". Whether they daringly aim to transcend boundaries of language, culture, or musical preference, The Berci Sisters are passionate about reminding hearts of God's unwavering promises to them.
