Ben Caplan - Birds With Broken Wings

In 2015 it's time for Ben Caplan to step outside of North America. His long-awaited second album, Birds With Broken Wings is available globally. With his immense beard Ben is a wonderful appearance and if you are heavily weathered hear smoky whiskey voice, you could almost forget that this talent only dates back to '86. The musical comparisons with Tom Waits is inevitable, partly because of the intense vocals. Together with his band The Casual Smokers' but Ben gives here a unique twist. From folk ballads to pounding klezmer with sophisticated jazz influences, while everything is brought with a saloon-like poetic rawness. A little less strange than Captain Beef Heart of Man Man, perhaps, already compensate Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers with this heartwarming depth and strong teamwork.
