Edward Gardner and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform three great orchestral works by Bela Bartok. Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta is a highly atmospheric work and achieved wider recognition after being used in Stanley Kubrik's the Shining. Also on the disc is the Suite from Bartok's gritty ballet score the Miraculous Mandarin and Four Pieces for Orchestra.
