Only a couple of years before he found himself destined to be forever typecast as the chilling, psychopathic killer Norman Bates in the controversial Alfred Hitchcock movie "Psycho", Anthony Perkins was playing far gentler, less harrowing movie roles. Indeed, he'd established himself as something of a fledgling Teen Idol figure, playing romantic lead roles, while he'd also enjoyed a brief, parallel mini-career as a singer. In 1956 he cut a trio of well-received singles and an LP, "Tony Perkins", for the Epic label. The following year he signed with RCA-Victor, for whom he cut two albums, "From My Heart" and "On A Rainy Afternoon", plus a half-dozen singles, including his sole US Top 40 hit 'Moon-light Swim'. This compilation anthologises all these releases, comprising everything that Perkins recorded between 1956-58, the first time that this body of work has been assembled together on one package.
