Anita Carter - Blue Doll
Anita Carter - Blue Doll

The youngest performing member of her generation of the formidable Carter Family, Anita Carter was genuine Country Music royalty, and had virtually grown up onstage. With her achingly pure soprano, she was regarded by just about everyone in Country music as the finest singer of Mother Maybelle Carter's three talented daughters. Due largely to her Carter Family commitments, she recorded sporadically rather than prolifically, during her career. She nonetheless registered a couple of huge C&W hits, duetting with Hank Snow in 1951, while her 50s and 60s singles have long been serious collectors' items. This compilation presents a selected "Very Best Of" Anita's releases between 1950 and 1962, across five different record labels, and includes duets with Hank Snow and Hank Williams. Also included are her original versions of 'Blue Doll' (later a million seller for Jim Reeves, reimagined as 'Blue Boy') and Johnny Cash's 'Ring Of Fire'
