Aileen Muggeridge, born in 1893, began her stage career when she was only five-teamed with her older brother Stanley. They appeared as "Aileen and Stanley" until Stanley left the act in 1912. Aileen continued her stage career as a single adopting her stage name "Aileen Stanley". After several successful years as a stage artist, Aileen also launched a recording career in 1920 and by 1924 became an exclusive artist for the Victor label until 1930. Years after her final commercial record in 1937, Aileen Stanley re-entered the recording studio in the latter 1940's to cut several 16-inch transcriptions for a radio series called "Music Hall Varieties" featuring authentically re-created favorites from the early 1920's. This release now makes available selections recorded for that rare series and includes such standards as Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home and After You've Gone.
