Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece Aida at La Scala in Milan is an experience in itself. Consequently, this new production is an event barely to be surpassed, especially when played before La Scala's notoriously critical audience. First performed on December 24, 1871, Aida is still capturing the attention of audiences today. Legendary stage director Peter Stein succeeds in delivering a lucid production acclaimed in equal measure by the press and public. The great German director, a naturalized Italian, has promised eine ganz intime Aida, a totally intimate Aida. Zubin Mehta leads the famous Coro e Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala.
