There have been numerous screen adaptations of Les Mis, but none can compare to Raymond Bernard's 1934 version, with music by the incomparable Arthur Honeggar. The score's great lyricism and thematic language create a powerful atmosphere of conflict and passion, brilliantly delivered by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
