Adham Shaikh - Basswalla

2015 release, global bass pioneer Adham Shaikh' first new album since 2010's acclaimed Universal Frequencies. When Black Swan Sounds invited Adham to compile a collection of his music, he took the opportunity to revisit and reconsider some of his favorite melodies, so that he could present something fresh rather than a recycled "greatest hits" package. Inspired to move beyond the notion of simply remixing, Adham approached the project much the way one would jazz or Indian classical music, allowing him to keep the scale and overall song structure intact while reimagining everything else. Guided by the essence of raga, this project allowed Shaikh to explore his Indian roots while showcasing the bass-heavy side of his compositions. Basswalla is the result of the more than 25 years Adham Shaikh has spent creating and performing original electronica and global fusion - a lifetime in service to the music and the people on the dance floor.
