2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, released his first solo album, "Based on a T.R.U. Story," in 2012. His debut produced such hits as "No Lie" and "Birthday Song" with Kanye West. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, was certified gold and shot 2 Chainz into Hip-Hop Stardom. After years spent recording as a part of hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz has gained notoriety and seen major success in the last year. "It's surprising when people ask to take my picture at the airport," he told HuffPost Entertainment in the days leading up to his debut solo album's release. "I'm surprised every day when someone who doesn't really like that part of my genre but recognizes me as an artist. I get surprised all day, every day, to tell you the truth." 2 Chainz broke the news of the album's release in the middle of a weekend performance for Atlanta's Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash show. 2 Chainz then took to Twitter to announce the album. In a recent interview with MTV, the rapper compared his music to a vacation, which is reflected in the title. "Me Time has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes - without really going on vacation," he explained."I feel like when people listen to me, they feel like they're goin' somewhere, taking time off; they're relaxing, lettin' their hair down." Chainz revealed that he actually recorded his new album with the intention of giving listeners a personalized experience. "Every time somebody wants to have some 'me time' or whatever, this is the type of vibe, this is the type of project [to listen to]. I'm putting together different sounds to make people be like, 'This is about me. Me and my people, this is our time.'" he said. On "Feds Watching," the lead single with Pharrell, Tity Boi expressed that the single was a much-needed experiment. "It just felt like it was something different, it felt like it was something that needed to happen," he said confidently. "For me it was about of course staying comfortable but trying new stuff, and that's what I did rocking with Pharrell."
