NEW GENERATION OF HOT CLUB GYPSY JAZZ BAND EMERGES: Twin Cities Hot Club DVD Live at the Times (Minneapolis, MN) - "Hot Club Gypsy Jazz" is alive and thriving in the Midwest as demonstrated by local super group Twin Cities Hot Club new DVD release "Live at the Times." The four-member group performs music from the high-energy genre originally created by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in 1930's Paris. 'Live at the Times' captures the Twin Cities Hot Club celebrating their two year anniversary with footage of the band in concert, swing dancers, fan interviews and special guest performers. 2006 MMA nominated best jazz artist -TCHC will celebrate the release of their DVD with two performances at the Times Bar and Café in Minneapolis, MN. The Twin Cities Hot Club (TCHC) represents Minnesota in the burgeoning revival of gypsy jazz. Their weekly performance at the Times Bar and Café, is the longest standing in the genre for Minnesota. TCHC is set apart from other groups in the genre as they share their energy with swing dancers- this DVD showcases the exchange. The group recreates not only the famous LA POMPE driving rhythm that distinguishes this romantic brand of acoustic jazz but also gypsy bossanova, musette, bolero, and swing. This timeless, deep-rooted music is physical, alive and speaks directly to the heart. "Some 68 years ago the broadcaster Ed Morrow bridged time to introduce all of us to The Hot Club of France with Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Now, at this moment, you can bridge that time and space with the Twin Cities Hot Club. Their passion, scholarship and skilled musicianship take you back to those days at Bricktop's Cabaret in Paris. Listen and listen again, this is Minnesota calling the spirit of Django and Stephane." - Leigh Kaman, The Jazz Image ©, Minnesota Public Radio. TCHC is made up of some of Minnesota's most accomplished and dynamic string jazz masters, with Robert Bell (guitar), Reynold Philipsek (guitar), Gary Schulte (violin), and Matt Senjem (bass). With their special affinity for the gypsy jazz genre TCHC has performed for many notable events including; **Michael Dregni's book release for 'Django the Life and Times of a Gypsy Legend' **Minnesota State Fair **Twin Cities Hot Summer Jazz festival **Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown **Bastille Day Theater Jeune de la Lune **Minnesota Sur Seine Festival with gypsy Dorado Schmitt **Uptown Row Django Jazz Festival **Artists Quarter **University of WI Madison **MPR Radio.
