Review Text
Spirojazz' third album is an inspiring homage to his hometown of Chicago. Rather than just provide the traditional and tired old Chicago blues sounds, he transforms the traditional sounds into a re-working of the Chicago sounds. Part rock, part blues, part jazz, part funk but all Chicago in a way that takes us from Herbie Hancock, to Sly Stone, to Booker T., to Ramsey Lewis to the freedom marches on Chicago's South Side. It's traditional, respectful, innovative and refreshing in a way that brings Chicago back to the forefront of innovative music.
