"Bluenoise" a labor of love for sure! This project is something Eric and I have talked about for years, we finally got it together. I guess I should talk about our relationship, we have been friends for over thirty years, we were in high school together, good Ole University City High! I can't recall any bands we were in together back then, but maybe? I do know that Eric is a very intelligent person, owner of "Enforme Interactive, a software company, "a developer of interactive media with surprising capabilities and an outstanding track record", to quote their web page and a terrific violinist! Above that Eric and I are great friends and this was a Blessing from GOD! We had a great time and we even got our children involved, that's always an a-plus in my book! So a little about the tunes chosen for this date. "Butterfly", I guess a mutual favorite of both of ours, Herbie is a master of music and I hope we did it justice? "Upon Arrival", first recorded with my group, "Third Kind Of Blue"! This song is about the only song I have gotten any substantial royalties from, when I don't have to fight to get them from my ex manager Bob Devere and Harry Fox! My Mom has always proclaimed this her favorite and it should be heard again and again around the world forever, so I gave it another shot! Of course I would like the lyrics sung by Lynne Fiddmont, Chaka Khan or Cassandra Wilson at some point! "A Night in Tunisia", this was presented to us by another great musician and my good friend, Benito Gonzalez. Benito and I worked extensively with Jackie & Rene McClean. Benito thought it would be nice to do it in seven, so we did. As well Mike Boone thought a montuno would be nice at the end, so we did and we liked it! "Kashmir", Eric brought this to the table and since it is also one that I have loved as well as many other Led Z. tunes, I thought this would be a nice change from the rest of the CD and a different color! I had a really good time writing the arrangement and counter melodies over the Zeppelin form. "Somewhere", well this is one I wrote while on tour and particularly in Munich on a two month engagement! My hotel room was very cool with a terrace; the windows were huge and extended from wall to wall. I was there during a heavy snow / ice storm and had some very solemn moments alone. After the storm one night after the gig, I remember opening the curtains and the snow had formed over the tree limbs an illuminating mass that hung down in a sack of glittering ice. It was just an awesome site, so beautiful and quite! There were many things going through my head, thinking about a woman I had met, my ex, and the loneliness. Just made me want to cry in love, shout in confusion and pain and many other places that put me somewhere I really can't explain except through the music itself! "Palladium", what can I say, we all love Wayne! "A Round About Midnight", this was another presented by Benito, he wrote such a splendid rendition, even though I recorded it on my last CD, we had to do it! "Marvin Bluesin", this is the great Marvin Horne, we only had this little vibe from Marvin Horne, but he is such a magnificent musician we had to spot this as well! "Just A Moment", one of my heart felt pieces I heard my Mom and youngest daughter, Mika and Eric's wonderfully funny little ones, Nicole and Christolphe on! This piece is because I believe music is the last and natural healing force left and we have to preserve our humanity and our children! Plain and simple this is what I know we as a people have to realize! I'd also like to get this or this type of music to the people who produced and wrote the film, "Children of Men" and Clive Owen. As well as any other films dealing with our future!
