Parental and societal pressure over scandal in the bride's family forced Nazar (Yousef Khodaparast) to back out of his impulsive marriage to Rayhane (Baran Kosari). Determined to make good on her dowry, the impoverished young man goes to stunning measures, in "Dancing in the Dust" (2003). Then, having turned 18, no-longer-juvenile convict Akbar (Hossein Farzi-Zadeh) was set to receive capital punishment for the murder he committed two years prior.
