The Brink of War

In the fall of 1986, U.S. President Ronald Reagan (Jeff Daniels) accepted the invite of Soviet general secretary Mikhail Gorbachev (Jared Harris) for a summit in Reykjavík, Iceland, over the future of the arms race. The tense confrontation for the leaders of the world's superpowers-with Reagan adamant on the USSR's human rights record and Gorbachev unflinching on America's Star Wars initiative-receives a compelling recreation here. J.K. Simmons, Hope Davis, Branka Katic, Aya Cash also star. 117 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English.
