Sátántangó

At over seven hours, Satantango unfolds less like a film and more like an extended meditation on decay and illusion. Tarr builds his narrative through repetition and observation, allowing the viewer to inhabit the same deteriorating world as his characters. The arrival of a charismatic figure offers the illusion of change, though the film never fully commits to resolution. It is an experience defined by it's duration as much as it's content.
