Facing deportation, beautiful Austrian refugee Johnny Jones (Hedy Lamarr) needs to find a husband, and fast. Her boyfriend, a wealthy American publishing magnate, is already married so Johnny enlists struggling writer Bill Smith (James Stewart) into a marriage of convenience.
