ONE BLACK LUNG has been performing and recording original eclectic music in Austin, Texas since 1995, right about the time founding members Jerell Lambert and Carrie Miller escaped from the halls of higher learning dressed as a Doctor of Arts and Master of Music. They ran like hell. With lockjaw academia safely behind them, the two set out to create a sound that draws on their many musical influences. The result is ONE BLACK LUNG's premiere release, WHEEL OF STYLE, featuring 22 tracks of original lyric songs and instrumentals. Jerell writes words and music, sings lead and back-up and plays guitars, five-string banjo and keyboards. He also does drum programming and engineering/recording for the band. Carrie plays cello, fretless bass, and sings lead and back-up vocals. She brings to the band many years of classical training, teaching and performance. In other words, she's got chops. Carrie's keen musical curiosity allows her to master and incorporate any style into her playing. She's cute, too, which of course makes all that other stuff superfluous. ONE BLACK LUNG (a coal miner's reference) is sometimes a duo, sometimes a trio or quartet. WHEEL OF STYLE features all of these combinations with the addition of Brian Collins and Jaime Cervantes. Brian is a guitarist, singer and songwriter. His composition 'Kind of Blue', is featured on WHEEL OF STYLE. Jaime is a drummer and graphic artist. He did the WHEEL OF STYLE cover art, and is well known as part of Austin's elite poster art underground. Jaime has played with many great Austin-based bands, including 'Sixpence None the Richer'. Lastly, every LUNG's favorite fifth wheel, guest guitarist John Roquemore joins Jerell to perform bluegrass compositions for guitar and banjo. It's all on WHEEL OF STYLE.
