Kinfolk is a gospel band of music professionals who more or less grew up together. It's members are sister and brother, father and daughter, high school classmates, neighborhood homeboys, and music industry sidemen. Between them their credits cover just about every noteworthy giant of the music industry. However, their coming together as a group happened almost by accident... or was it Providence? Donny McCullough, the group's main composer, probably began the project putting the cart before the horse. He went into the studio to cut a couple of songs, called his old high school buddy Dorian Holley in to do vocals, and from there the project just grew and grew. Dorian and Donny were in their first band together as kids, a band that included two other Kinfolk members, Jo Lynn Ballard and Jon Holley. For years they performed at churches, clubs and concert houses in and around LA, developing quite the reputation, until they disbanded in '87. Donny became a staff writer for Motown Records, where he developed his song writing and producing skills. This is also where he became familiar with the recording studio, and working with artist. Donny has written and produced over fifty commercial jingles for many companies and products, he has also written and produced songs for several movies and many TV shows. Dorian has sung and continues to sing with just about every superstar that's out there!!! He has worked with Michael Jackson for over two decades, on all of his tours and was one of the singers and the vocal coach for Michael's final tour ('This Is It'), there rehearsing and working with 'The King of Pop' the nite before his untimely death. Dorian is and has been the assistant director and vocal coach for ' American Idol'. If that's not enough, his voice can be heard in many movie's such as ' Happy Feet', Ant's, 'Jungle Fever', 'Stir Crazy'. The voice of choir boy in the movie 'The Five Heartbeats' is Dorian Holley. The credits go on and on. Dorian Holley's debut CD 'independent film' is also available at cdBaby. This is just a small sample of what's to come from the members of Kinfolk. Many other genre's, smooth jazz, pop, some classical pieces and r & b. stay tuned. Produced by Donny McCullough.
