Review Text
This concept CD has a Christian message with a classic rock album sound. It tells an underlying story of one man's journey in becoming a Christ follower. The goal is to spread the Word of Jesus to people who have a passion for great rock music. "It sounds like the Allman Brothers meet Dire Straits, in church." The first three tracks tell a story. First, in The Final Hour, the tempo and instruments intensify with confusion as Jesus' death on the cross approaches. It has a Pink Floyd edge. Next, is a spiritual, mellow, melodic bass instrumental representing the transformation of Jesus Christ. Last, the title track, Road to Emmaus, is Luke 24:13-26. It has a classic rock feel of the Eagles and Bob Dylan. Prince of Peace is a worshipful song that honors Jesus and his sacrifice. This song has a Eric Clapton type sound. I Am Free is a cover of the Newsboys' song that rocks. Jerry's vocals are really strong which makes for great worship. 'Cause I Sin is a mellow song with an Allman Brothers influence, that is thankful for Jesus and his sacrifice. I Can Give It To You is a song of recognizing Jesus and his grace. It has a Dire Straits/blues sound that is very pleasant. I Will Sing Your Praises is a purely praise and worship song with a rock and contemporary blend. The harmonies are beautifully done. Come Follow Me To My Father's House: All the Scripture in this song is spoken by Jesus and his explanation about the only way to his Kingdom. It is spoken over a music and vocal track that has a southern rock feel.
