Review Text
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to sell everything you have, pack up your family, and move to a 3rd world country to follow your faith? Can you imagine how different life would be from living in a small northern Indiana town compared to living among tribal people in the mountains of Papua New Guinea? In spite of the difficulties and challenges surrounding such a radical move, Drew and his family are closer to each other and to God than before and never imagined the abundant life of following their faith, even though they gave up so much. Closer Than Before is the follow up album to his debut album Just Let Go. In the debut album, Drew paints a clear picture of the process and life change he went through as he, his wife and their three children divested from an established life in America to move to Papua New Guinea. The Closer Than Before album is an incredible follow up to the story of the debut album. During the last year and a half, Drew has been writing songs about the experience of living life in this third world country and adjusting to a radically different culture and lifestyle. The album has a very chilled out feel to it and has blends of Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, and John Mayer. This 6 song EP was recorded at The Smoakstack in Nashville, TN and produced by Paul Moak.
