Jalyn Records is back! The Dayton, Ohio label from the creative mind of bluegrass legend Jack Lynch originally ran from the early '60s through the late '70s. Working out of his apartment on Brown Street, Lynch turned out a steady run of hard-driving bluegrass, country, and gospel sides cut by local pickers and big names alike, including Ralph Stanley and Don Reno. Decades on, these records are now lovingly remastered for modern ears and available on CD for the first time. Old-time gospel singing is certainly a speciality with the Earls and Whitehead Gospel Singers. This is their fifth album to date. Edward Earls, is playing five-string banjo and guitar, singing lead and bass. Millie Earls, sings lead and tenor. She is married to Edward Earls. Leamon Whitehead, sings lead and plays the guitar. Patty Whitehead, plays guitar and sings high tenor. She is Mrs. Leamon Whitehead. Mark Whitehead, age seven, plays mandolin and is featured on lead guitar on "The Touch Of God's Hand. " Mark is Leamon and Patty Whitehead's son. Joyce Browning, is singing alto. Mary Jane Browning, is playing the bass. She is fifteen and is Joyce Browning's daughter. Denzil Hunt, is featured on lead guitar. This album is dedicated to the families of Edward Earls and Leamon Whitehead, whose Kentucky roots run deep. With voices bound by kinship and faith, the group brings forward another heartfelt collection of old-time gospel.
