Kirk Douglas Double Feature. In The Big Trees (1952), Jim Fallon (Kirk Douglas) is an unscrupulous businessman hoping to make big profits by staking claims to California land rich in timber under a new law passed in 1900. It looks a though his plans may be thwarted by a resident Quaker colony and his own devious business partners. In My Dear Secretary (1949) successful novelist and playboy Owen Waterbury (Kirk Douglas) needs a new secretary; he frequently needs a new secretary. When giving a lecture at a writers class he meets Stephanie Gaylord (Laraine Day) and persuades her to take on the job. Although she admires his work, she is not so impressed by his advances. A riotous comedy with scene stealing performances from Keenan Wynn and Florence Bates. (182 minutes - 1952/1949 - Black & White & Color - 4:3)
