Program #102: HOMICIDE: An autopsy reveals that an elderly woman was sexually molested and died of a broken neck during a struggle with her attacker. Homicide Det. Cheryl Lyons and her partner focus on the victim's daughter's boyfriend, a man name Sha-awa, as the primary suspect. JUVENILE INVESTIGATIONS: Det. Chris Hicks is assigned a case involving a 13-year-old girl who has been having consensual sex with a 27-year-old female friend of the family. After talking with the young girl, Det. Hicks arrests the older woman. The 27-year-old admits to a few occasions when she and the 13-year-old had sex. The suspect was convicted of lewd conduct with a minor and is now registered as a known sex offender. She is prohibited from any further contact with the victim. CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS: Det. John Kalita is investigating a robbery at a cellular phone store. It appears to be an inside job since the robbery took place on the one day that a large amount of money was in the store safe. Kalita checks out employees who left the job under negative circumstances but is unable to come up with a suspect. The case remains open for future leads. The detective investigates another case, this one involving a woman who has registered a complaint against her boyfriend for hitting her and her child. When the Sheriffs catch the suspect, the girlfriend tries to retract her accusations, common in cases of spousal abuse. Nevertheless, the suspect is arrested, tried and convicted of domestic violence.
