Ness/ Norwegian Radio Orchestra/ Rimul - Fierce Kentucky Mothers of Doom

The Norwegian Radio Orchestra presents three new works by composer Jon Oivind Ness - all of them black comedies and embodying a kind of Brutalistic Impressionism. Much of Ness' music has a humorous streak, though the humor is sometimes rather black or ironic, and, in recent years, his humor has changed to something entirely more serious, which he labels 'dark ambient.' Although he regards all three concertos as reflecting a transitional phase between humor and seriousness, the instrumentations are different and individual in character.
