Alex Heffes / Anoushka Shankar - A Suitable Boy (Original Television Soundtrack)

Based on Vikram Seth's epic novel that follows the fortunes of four families in 1950s India, the six-part series was directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, Salaam Bombay!) and adapted for the screen by Andrew Davies (War and Peace, Pride and Prejudice). The series was created by an almost exclusively all Indian cast and crew and main roles feature Tanya Maniktala (Lata), Ishaan Khatter (Maan), Tabu (Saida Bai), Mahira Kakkar (Mrs Rupa Mehra), Danesh Razvi (Kabir), Namit Das (Haresh), Mikhail Sen (Amit). A Suitable Boy tells the story of spirited university student Lata Mehra as she comes of age in North India in 1951, at the same time as the country is carving out it's own identity as an independent nation and is about to go to the polls for it's first democratic general election. The series was produced by the award-winning London studio Lookout Point and is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Netflix in all global territories, except Canada, the U.S. and China. A Suitable Boy will premiere in the U.S. and Canada on Acorn TV on Monday, December 7th (with two episodes), with a weekly rollout through January 4, 2021.
