Myoshi Umecki first earned fame as a nightclub and recording star in her native Japan. She emigrated to the United States and became an even bigger star, becoming the first Asian to win an acting Oscar for "Sayonara," earning a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in "Flower Drum Song," a Golden Globe nomination for the film version, and an Emmy nomination for her starring role on TV's "The Courtship of Eddie's Father." She also signed a contract with Mercury Records and all of her singles are included here for the first time since their original release in the 1950's. We've also added many of her rare Japanese recordings, released outside of Japan for the very first time. All digitally restored to pristine sound by Jasmine Records
