George Maharis - Get Your Kicks On Route 66!

Back in the 1950s/early 60s, it was pretty much de rigeur for actors - particularly handsome, male TV stars - to cut records. A prime example was GEORGE MAHARIS, who played Buz Murdock in Route 66, the CBS TV buddy/caper/crime series launched in the fall of 1960, featuring two guys and a Chevy Corvette convertible, having unlikely adventures roaming the U. S. For a couple of years he was a massive star and his records were huge sellers, leading to a trio of hit singles and a couple of chart albums. This compilation anthologises George's brief, early brush with Pop stardom, comprising his first two LPs, "George Maharis Sings!" and "Portrait In Music", plus a charting, non-album single, 'Baby Has Gone Bye Bye'. The theme tune to the Route 66 TV series by Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra, which also cracked the US Top 40, is included as a bonus track.
