29-year-old immigrant sex worker and single mother Debra struggles to raise her 10-year-old daughter Mona. With Mona's father moving in and out of their lives unpredictably and unreliably, they embark on a journey of emancipation and self-empowerment. As Debra attempts to escape cycles of abuse and poverty, she learns to become a more nurturing mother and begins to discover her own self-worth.
